Our Curriculum Overview

Dedication to Excellence

The Unilorin Secondary School curriculum is designed to satisfy the diverse interest of the students with a view of fulfilling their professional aspirations.

Although, a lot of emphasis is placed on Science and Technology, the school was mindful of the other fields of human knowledge i.e. the affective (heart) and the psychomotor (hand) of learning; which are in compliance with the Federal Ministry of Education’s directive on Vocational Education.

The curriculum is effervescent and broad-based.  The total number of subjects taught in the Junior Secondary or UBE section are 18; while 26 are taught at the Senior Secondary Section.  The subjects are grouped in accordance with the Syllabus of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) and the National Examinations Council (NECO) requirements.

Examination in USS

TYPES OF EXAMINATIONS USS STUDENTS WRITE

The students of Unilorin Secondary School are prepared morally and academically for post-secondary needs, most especially at the University level. The students are therefore, registered for both WAEC and NECO Senior School Certificate Examinations on an annual basis. The students in UBE 9 /JSS 3, also write Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE) conducted by NECO for promotion to SS 1.

Moreover, the Kwara State Ministry of Education now makes it compulsory for all Secondary Schools in the state (Private/Government-Aided) to write the state’s Junior School Certificate Examinations (State BECE SSCE) as from May/June 2020. Consequently, USS students are now exposed to two (2) Senior School Certificate Examinations as well as two (2) Junior School Certificate Examinations.
